Art Display Unveiled at Conventus
by Jonathan EpsteinThe Buffalo News
Ciminelli Real Estate Corp. on Tuesday announced the opening
of a public art display at its Conventus building on the Buffalo Niagara
Medical Campus, designed to welcome tenants and visitors with "a cultural
experience" within the healthcare-focused facility that houses clinical,
office, research and retail space while eventually linking the John R. Oishei
Children's Hospital and University at Buffalo's new Jacobs School of Medicine
and Biomedical Sciences, both under construction.
The exhibit includes a display of permanent and temporary
artwork inside and outside the seven-story building, including works by artists
Terri Katz Kasimov, Catherine Linder Spencer and Ginny O'Brien. Ciminelli is
also introducing its Connect Gallery - featuring works by artists in Aspire of
WNY Inc.'s iXpress Program - in collaboration with University at Buffalo Art
Galleries' Art Education Program and its community partners.
Ciminelli also partnered with Rigidized Metals, UB
professors Christopher Romano and Nicholas Bruscia, and students from UB's
School of Architecture & Planning to design "functional yet
beautiful" wind screens mounted on the outside of the 350,000-square-foot
building, made with perforated stainless steel metal panels and plates that are
lit up at night.
A special preview of the exhibition will take place during a
private reception Nov. 19.
